NHMEA All State Music Festival & Spring Conference

Concord High School, Concord NH

April 8-10 2010

We hope that you are planning to join your colleagues for this year’s Spring Conference.  For many of you this will be the only means of receiving the All-State / Spring Conference information. Please familiarize yourself with the details contained on this page, as there are many adjustments to previous years events, as well as significant changes regarding student housing.   Due to the All-State/Conference Committee’s hard work, this year’s conference will be another wonderful musical event for both students and teachers.  We are delighted to once again be the guests of Concord High School, and are grateful to hosts Tony Varga, Jim Foley and Linda Mai for their tireless efforts.

REGISTRATION PROCEDURE

To facilitate check-in, please complete the Pre-Registration Form so that you can easily receive your name badge and registration materials at the Conference Registration Table at the Grappone Center.

Please use the Pre-Registration Form included on this page, or printed in the March Quarter Notes

HOTEL ACCOMMODATIONS

In response to many director requests, we will return to gender specific hotels for student housing, rather than housing students by ensemble.  Boys will be housed only at the Grappone Center / Courtyard by Marriott.  Girls will only be housed at the Holiday Inn. Music teachers can make their own reservations at the Courtyard by Marriott, the Holiday Inn or you may choose any of the other fine Concord hotels. When you make your reservations for your own hotel stay, please select the hotel, which will host the majority of your students.  This will facilitate your ability to assist with chaperoning duties. Michele Boulanger of Dover HS will be contacting you soon regarding your chaperone responsibilities.

If you are calling the Courtyard or the Holiday Inn, please identify yourself as part of the All-State Music Festival to receive their special rate. Call soon as Room availability is very limited at the Courtyard and Holiday Inn.

REHEARSALS

All honors ensemble rehearsals will be held at Concord High School, you are encouraged to attend any of these rehearsals.  There will be no parking available to you during the day on Friday.  However, a shuttle service will be provided for directors from the conference hotels, making regular trips throughout the day, facilitating your attendance at both the rehearsals and the workshops.

Band:  Dr. Peter Boonshaft

Orchestra:  Dr. Robert Lehmann

WORKSHOPS

Elaine Hashem has organized a wonderful selection of Clinics and Workshops (click to download PDF of sessions).  We are pleased that all workshops will be held at the Grappone Center.  Please continue to check the website for any updates to the workshop schedule so that you may plan your time accordingly.

EXHIBITS

On Friday, from 9:00AM until 4:00 PM, Exhibitors will have displays set up in the Main Street area at Concord HS as well as in lobby at the Marriott.  Please visit exhibitors and make them feel welcome. They provide an important service to our profession and it is important to let them know how valuable they are.

FRIDAY LUNCH

Arrangements have been made with the Grappone Center to provide a reasonably priced luncheon concession this year.  You will be able to remain at the conference throughout the day on Friday without the need to leave for lunch.  The workshop schedule has been adjusted to ensure that your time will be maximized.

ALL-MEMBER MEETING

The annual Spring All-Member meeting will be held on Friday April 9, at 4:00 P.M in the Ballroom, Courtyard by Marriott.  Many issues affecting you as a music educator will be discussed. We hope that the convenience of the new location will make it possible for everyone to attend. Please join us!

ALL MEMBER DINNER

Immediately following the All Member meeting on Friday, we will hold our All-Member Banquet, also at the Courtyard Marriott.  The $20.00 cost for the buffet dinner can be included with your Conference registration. This is an opportunity to meet and welcome our All-State Festival Conductors to New Hampshire. Awards and Special recognitions will follow. We hope you will join your colleagues for a great time!
