NHMEA’s Preamble: Music allows us to celebrate and preserve our cultural heritages, and also to explore the realms of expression, imagination, and creation resulting in new knowledge. Therefore, every individual should be guaranteed the opportunity to learn music and to share in musical experiences.
NHMEA’s Mission: The mission of NHMEA is to advance music education by encouraging the study and making of music by all.
NHMEA’s Vision: All students will receive a comprehensive, sequential music education that prepares them for lifelong involvement in music.
NHMEA’s Goals: To advance music education by encouraging the study and making of music by all, NHMEA has four major goals:
- Music educators and those who support music education shall view NHMEA as the primary association for ensuring the widespread advancement of the profession within New Hampshire
- Every student in our state’s schools shall study music as part of a well-balanced education as defined by section 8002 of the Every Student Succeeds Act
- All school music programs shall be balanced, comprehensive, and sequential and shall be provided with resources as defined in NAfME’s Opportunity-To-Learn-Standards for Music
- All school music instruction shall be delivered by and supervised by highly-qualified and certified music educators, each of whom meets the state requirements described in NH Certification Standards for Educational Personnel Ed 507.38
